# How to download a proof of account letter (account confirmation) from AlignPay

Open the account from Home and choose Account confirmation, or use the Account confirmation side of Statements. You get a one-page PDF that names your business, the account details and the date it was opened, and confirms it's active.

## Key takeaways

1. An account confirmation letter, often called proof of account or a bank account verification letter, shows that your business holds an account and gives its details. Customers, marketplaces and payment platforms often ask for one before they'll pay you.
2. In AlignPay, download it as a PDF from the account itself, next to Copy all details, or from the Statements dialog under Account confirmation.
3. The letter states who holds the account, the currency, the account details exactly as Receive shows them, the payment methods, the date opened and that the account is active on the date of the letter.
4. Some requesters only accept a letter from the bank that holds the account. If yours does, ask Align for a letter from its banking partner.

## The short answer

In AlignPay, open the account you want to prove, from its balance tile on Home, and choose **Account confirmation** next to Copy all details. Or open **Statements** and switch to the **Account confirmation** side, where every account Receive lists has a **Download** button. You get a one-page PDF letter, named after your business, the currency and the date.

## When you need one

- **A marketplace or payment platform** wants to verify the account it will pay your earnings into.
- **A new customer's accounts team** asks for proof before adding you as a supplier, often after an invoice fraud scare. See [supplier bank detail changes](https://alignlabs.dev/guides/supplier-bank-details-change-fraud).
- **A landlord, lender or government body** asks for evidence of a business account.
- **A partner's compliance team** needs the account in your company's name for its own checks.

## What the letter says

The letter states that your business holds the account, opened through Align, and that it is active on the date of the letter. Below that it lists:

- The account holder, as Align records it
- The currency and the payment methods, such as ACH and wire for USD or SEPA for EUR
- The account details, exactly as Receive shows them: account number and routing number, IBAN and BIC, or sort code and account number
- The date the account was opened

It's a single A4 page, even for a US account with both its addresses.

## If the requester wants more

- **A letter from the bank.** Some requesters only accept a letter from the institution that holds the account. Ask Align for a letter from its banking partner.
- **Your company number or registered address.** These aren't on the letter yet. Send your incorporation documents alongside it if they're asked for.
- **Activity.** For a record of payments, download a statement instead; see [statements and reconciliation](https://alignlabs.dev/guides/statements-and-reconciliation).

## Common questions

### What's the difference between an account confirmation and a statement?

A confirmation letter proves the account exists, is yours and is active, and gives its details. A statement lists the money in and out over a period. A platform verifying where to pay you usually wants the confirmation; an auditor or lender usually wants statements.

### Whose name is on the letter?

The account's beneficiary, as Align records it, which for a business account is your company's legal name. That's the name payers should use, and the name a payer's bank checks with Verification of Payee or Confirmation of Payee.

### Can I get one for each currency?

Yes. Each account has its own letter: for example, one for your USD account with its account number and routing number, and one for your EUR account with its IBAN.
