Fedwire Funds and FedACH don't process payments on Federal Reserve holidays, so a wire or ACH payment sent on one of these days moves on the next business day.

- Juneteenth National Independence Day, . A Saturday: the Reserve Banks are open on Friday 18 June.
- Christmas Day, . A Saturday: the Reserve Banks are open on Friday 24 December.
- New Year's Day 2028, . A Saturday: the Reserve Banks are open on Friday 31 December 2027.

Worth knowing
When a Federal Reserve holiday falls on a Saturday, the Reserve Banks open as usual on the Friday before; when it falls on a Sunday, they close the Monday after. That's why Independence Day closes Fedwire on Monday 5 July 2027, while Juneteenth and Christmas Day close nothing.
Fedwire normally runs from 9:00 p.m. ET the evening before to 7:00 p.m. ET on business days. Your bank's own cut-off for sending a wire comes earlier, so check it before a long weekend.

- Yes, in effect. Juneteenth falls on Saturday 19 June 2027, and the Federal Reserve Banks are open as usual on Friday 18 June, so there's no weekday closure.
- Is Fedwire open on 5 July 2027?
- No. Independence Day falls on Sunday 4 July 2027, so the Federal Reserve Banks close on Monday 5 July.
- Can I send money on a Federal Reserve holiday?
- You can instruct a payment, but Fedwire and FedACH won't process it until the next business day. FedNow, where your bank and the recipient's bank both use it, runs every day.
