The short answer
Payoneer is built for getting paid: by clients abroad, by marketplaces and through local receiving details in 13 currencies, in 190+ countries and territories. Wise Business is built for holding, converting and sending money: account details in 22 currencies, balances in 40+ and no monthly fee.
For a business paid by wire in a currency other than its own, Wise usually costs less, because Payoneer takes 1% of every payment received in a non-local currency. Payoneer is often the alternative where Wise doesn't give USD account details, such as Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, because it covers far more countries; check its list for yours.
Getting paid
As of October 2026, from each provider's pricing pages and help center:
| Getting paid | Payoneer | Wise Business |
|---|---|---|
| Local receiving details | 13 currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, AED and JPY | 22 currencies; no AED details |
| Paid in your local currency | Free | Free domestically in 9 currencies, including USD, EUR and GBP |
| Paid in another currency | 1% (minimum 1.00 USD) | USD: ACH free for most businesses, 6.11 USD per wire or SWIFT payment; EUR or GBP by SWIFT: 2.39 EUR or 2.16 GBP |
Who can pay you. Payoneer's receiving accounts accept payments for business transactions from business accounts. Payments from personal bank accounts, and from a bank account in your own name, are declined, unless you're adding funds from your own bank.
Where the payment comes from. Payoneer says a local transfer has to start in the currency's own country: USD by ACH from the US, GBP from the UK. SWIFT wires can come from anywhere, but Payoneer says third-party banks typically take 20 to 30 USD on the way. Wise's USD details take ACH and domestic wires from the US, plus wires and SWIFT from some other countries.
What kind of account it is. Payoneer says a receiving account "is not a bank account": you can receive into it but not send from it, and you move the money on from your Payoneer balance. Wise account details belong to a multi-currency account you can send from directly.
Getting money out
| Getting money out | Payoneer | Wise Business |

| Between your own balances | 0.50% | From 0.24% to convert |
| Annual or monthly fee | 29.95 USD a year if you receive less than 6,000 USD in any 12 months | None; one-time setup fee of 50 GBP (UK) or 31 USD (US) |
| Card | Annual card fee of 29.95 USD | First card free; 3 GBP per extra team card (UK) |
Payoneer says its fees vary by region, account type and onboarding channel, and it offers custom pricing above 50,000 USD a month. Its pricing page was last updated on 1 January 2026.

Which one to choose
Choose Payoneer if:
- Wise won't give you USD account details where you're based
- you're a freelancer or online seller paid by clients and platforms abroad
- you need AED receiving details
Choose Wise Business if:
- clients pay you by wire in a currency other than your own, where 1% of each payment adds up
- you want to hold balances in many currencies and pay suppliers from the same account
- you want no annual fee whatever your volume
Neither fits a company whose clients pay in USDT or USDC. For more options, see Payoneer alternatives and Align vs Wise Business.
Where Align fits
Align is a business account built on stablecoins, for registered companies. It gives named USD, EUR, GBP and AED accounts in your company's name, and money you receive lands as USDC or USDT. It isn't for freelancers paid as individuals, and its pricing is quoted on request. Align's AED accounts are for companies outside the UAE, and it doesn't onboard companies based there.
Align Payments Ltd. is registered with FINTRAC in Canada as a money services business (registration no. N300000203), and regulated services are provided through licensed financial institutions. Align isn't a bank.

Common questions
- Is Wise or Payoneer cheaper for receiving payments from abroad?
- It depends on the currency. Both are free when a client pays you in your local currency through local details. In another currency, Payoneer charges 1% (minimum 1.00 USD), while Wise charges nothing for most domestic payments, nothing for US ACH, and a fixed 6.11 USD for each USD wire or SWIFT payment. On a 10,000 USD wire, that's about 100 USD with Payoneer and 6.11 USD with Wise, before any conversion.
- Which is better for freelancers?
- Both serve freelancers. Payoneer covers 190+ countries and territories and is built for being paid by clients and marketplaces. Wise doesn't give USD account details to people with an address in countries including Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Türkiye and the UAE, so Payoneer is often the alternative there. Check that it serves your country before you apply.
- Can anyone pay into a Payoneer receiving account?
- No. Payoneer says its receiving accounts accept payments for business transactions from business accounts. Payments from personal bank accounts and from a bank account in your own name are declined, except when you're adding funds from your own bank.
- Do Wise or Payoneer support stablecoins?
- Wise doesn't support businesses involved in the exchange or trading of cryptocurrencies. Payoneer offers a stablecoin wallet powered by Bridge for USDC and USDT, rolling out in phases and kept separate from your Payoneer balances. A company that wants payments into bank accounts to land as USDC or USDT can use Align.
